ISO 19650 is an International suite of standards for managing information over the whole life cycle of a built asset using building information modelling (BIM).
Increasingly public sector and private sector clients are looking for ‘BIM Capable’ organisations to support their projects, and today evidence via third party certification and independent audits is increasingly valued.
For those organisations developing good working practices based on the ISO 19650 standards, or updating their processes from what was known as BIM Level 2 to the latest standards, certification can assist that transition, drive business improvement, and validate compliance or progress via third party assessment.
The position in the industry of ISO 19650 certification was strengthened significantly in 2022 when three providers were formally accredited by the UK Accreditation Service, UKAS. One of these being LRQA (previously Lloyd's Register) who Symetri work in partnership with in delivering certification services, as well as supporting customers achieve certification through other providers.

- The new ISO 19650 Q&A document - The ISO 19650 standard is an international standard for managing information over the whole life cycle of a built asset using building information modelling (BIM). This document explains how those in the UK can apply the standards locally and is a very useful guide but can only be accessed by purchasing a copy of ISO 19650-1 or 2.

UKAS is the sole National Accreditation Body for the United Kingdom and is recognised by Government, to assess against nationally and internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide conformity assessment services such as certification, testing, inspection, calibration and verification.

BIM Level 2 Accreditation - ISO 19650 Accreditation , just like ISO 9001, is a quality management standard helping organisations of all sizes demonstrate they deliver a consistently high level of professional service.
