How does Autodesk Certification help an organisation?
“The employer generally gets the employees he deserves” - Sir Walter Raleigh (1554 – 1618).
Undoubtedly, an organisation's greatest asset is its staff particularly during difficult economic times. The knowledge, creativity and passion that these people possess is a
key differentiator for any organisation when it comes to success and
winning business; and this makes people a commodity which you
cannot attach a value to. Whilst skills and knowledge is replaceable in
the mid to long-term, what is the cost to the organisation in terms of
replacing staff and providing the necessary training and support to
bring them up to speed?
So by investing in staff, the organisation benefits substantially in both
the short and long term by retaining what are its most valuable assets.

Realising a Return on Investment through Certification
Aside from just providing the sense of achievement to the individual, there are
a whole host of genuine benefits an organisation can gain from
Certification. These can range from benchmarking employee
performance through to providing motivation towards reaching
specific targets, all of which could ultimately lead to financial rewards.
But beyond that, as an employer such an investment demonstrates a
commitment to the continual development of what is a highly skilled
and knowledgeable group of employees. Unsurprisingly, enthusiastic
employees significantly out-produce and outperform the average
workforce because they are willing to go the extra mile and to do the
hard or even 'impossible' jobs.
There are a number of significant benefits which can be gained from
Certification. Attaching return on investment for intangible items such as training is often difficult, particularly when the measures may not be wholly financial.
Whilst Certification is not intrinsically linked to training, the process
certainly has much merit when tied together and could be used as
both a precursor to training and as an indicator towards its overall
success at the end measuring user productivity.

| One of the complexities of planning training for a large number of
individuals is knowing precisely what is required to satisfy the entire
group’s learning requirements. In most organisations there is a variety
of skill and experience, and that diversity means a blanket approach to
training can sometimes prove less than effective. Where Certification
becomes useful in this instance is assessing knowledge upfront. In turn,
this allows the likes of HR Departments, CAD Managers, etc. to source
(either internally or externally) training which is more tailored to the
needs of the individual.
Where Certification also becomes beneficial to organisations is during
the recruitment process. How easy is it to judge the skills and
knowledge of an individual from a CV and face to face interview? Using assessment could enable decision makers to quickly and
effectively identify suitable candidates, which in turn could
dramatically reduce the cost of the overall recruitment process.
