What's new in Piranesi 5.1 (WMV Movie)

In any creative process for clients, the first presentation of ideas is vitally important. Efforts to get the client to see (and ultimately approve) the concept as a whole, rather than focusing on the detail, often result in the delivery of a loose, impressionistic visualization of the finished building, landscaping plan or product.

Piranesi excels at turning your conceptual 3D models into wonderfully atmospheric, stylised and (most importantly) persuasive visualizations, with a whole host of effects to allow you to focus the eye and the attention to the key elements of your design.

Later on in the process, Piranesi is also adept at delivering both photorealistic and non-photorealistic renders of your fully-detailed images either for marketing use, planning applications or even award submissions.

 
 

What's new in Piranesi 5.1?

  
     
 
Lock Highlighting
  
 
The first thing you’ll notice when using locks in Piranesi 5.1 is the automatic highlighting of geometry that matches the locks. What this means is that you immediately see which items can be painted if you actually began painting at the current position. As you move the pointer around the scene, the highlighting is dynamically updated to match the new position.

And, because you might not always want to use this feature, you can switch it on and off by pressing the letter Q (you can choose another letter if you prefer).

 
 
Link Google 3D Warehouse
  
 
With the increasing popularity of Google® 3D Warehouse, Piranesi 5.1 now provides a direct link to the warehouse. This means that you can browse and load models of furniture, cars, animals, and anything else that has been modelled, directly into Piranesi.

We’ve also extended the support for Google SketchUp files to include Version 7.

 
 
Cutout Image Cursors
  
 
We’ve added a new variant to the Cutout Image cursors in Piranesi 5.1. You now see cutout as a true image picture as you move the cursor over the scene. And, because this is the obvious, natural viewing choice, we’ve made it the default method of working.

You can now see exactly where your cutout will be placed, whether in front of, behind or even within existing scenery.

 
 
New Colour Palette
  
 
The Colour palette in Piranesi 5.1 can now load palettes that have been created in other applications, such as Adobe® Photoshop®. This means that you can now easily maintain your clients’ corporate colours or preferred style by loading a specific set from your library of colour palettes.

We’ve also added options for the Reduce Colours Filter to use the new Colour palette features.

 
 
FBX Files as Cutouts
  
 
To improve your workflow with Autodesk Revit®, Piranesi 5.1 can read FBX® files as cutouts. And if you export your model in FBX format, Vedute 5.1 can convert it to an EPix file ready for painting in Piranesi.

 
 
Style Recording
  
 
The Style Recorder in Piranesi 5.1 now records strokes in addition to its style. This means that you can apply the same strokes to different views of a scene just by replaying the styles.
