Mechanical Design

Software tools for mechanical design are suitable for a wide range of design tasks not just limited to component design for manufacture but also particular parts of construction design. The move from 2D to 3D design, use of parametric modelling and wide range of design data transfer methods have all brought a revolution to mechanical design to speed up the design cycle, accelerate design review and enable what is called "digital prototyping".

Mechanical Design - Curved Roof

Mechanical Design - 2D design

Part Design for Manufacturing

Create 3D parametric parts to define plastic components, castings and mouldings; and automatically produce associated 2D manufacturing drawings. Visualise your product before it's real!

MEP Assembly

Take data from an Inventor manufacturing model and simplify the geometry to transfer via ADSK to MEP design software as a component for building services engineering. Define connectors for electrical, mechanical and plumbing components which are intelligently transferred to your MEP design software.

Mechanical Design - Trophy Tower

Creative Architecture

Use parameter driven mathematical models as well as software tools to extrude, revolve, sweep and loft your designs to create lines, surfaces and solids to design iconic structures, facades and features. Then transfer the design data to your architectual design software for massing studies etc. and convert faces to facades, walls, slabs, etc.

Mechanical Design - Structural Bridge Support

Civil & Structural Engineering

Use 3D modelling techniques to create solid forms as individual components or complete assemblies. Model, document and visualise then output for analysis, fabrication and construction in structural and civil engineering.

Architectural Features and Components

Create and/or include complex and creative architectural features and standard or custom components such as windows, curtain wall assemblies, fixtures and fittings from design to manufacturing and installation.

Case Studies

Each Excitech project profile provides a case study in technology for design; its implementation and use, highlighting the perceived need, solution and actual results achieved through the use of products identified above or related services such as training.

The following Excitech clients have gained benefits from these design solutions. Click on the pdf image to see the project profile.

  Project Company
Inventing 3D Bridge Designs
Halcrow
Supported by Excitech, Halcrow use mechanical design software (Autodesk Inventor) to design two bridges then integrate into Architectural Desktop (now known as AutoCAD Architecture).
Manufacturing Content Creation
Remploy Furniture
Having adopted Revit Architecture to enable more efficient and accurate design and workflows, Remploy Furniture required 3D design content of its furniture catalogues.

Training Courses

Training (as well as an initial review of what training is appropriate and subsequent certification) is an essential element of the introduction of new design technology software and processes as well as a valuable way to develop staff, increase quality, reduce errors and improve productivity. As the UK's leading Autodesk Training Centre and ATC of the year you can rely on Excitech to deliver on the promise.

The following Excitech training courses relate to these design solutions. Click on the course name for more details including course content and course schedules.
