SketchUp Pro is useful from the earliest stages of design to the end of construction. Programming, diagramming, design development, detailing, documentation, RFIs - wherever you need drawings, you need SketchUp Pro.
So what's new in 2017? Here is a quick overview...
In this release, major improvements to the graphics pipeline, allowing for performance improvements everywhere you see a .SKP. Now, SketchUp, 3D Warehouse, LayOut, my.SketchUp, and Trimble Connect all render models using the same under-the-hood algorithms, all tuned for buttery 3D orbiting.
Along with the graphics pipeline overhaul, big improvements to transparency have been made which should now render at higher quality and faster too. SketchUp is also now better at displaying multiple transparencies to provide a more realistic sense of depth across several clear faces. And for good measure, the ability to fine-tune the opacity level in X-ray mode has been added.
High DPI Modelling
SketchUp has retuned snapping and inferencing for high definition monitors (like Apple’s Retina Display). Edge weights have also been smart-scaled.
The new Offset avoids overlapping and self-intersecting geometry. Clean offsets, every time you hit ‘F’ (even in LayOut!).
Perpendicular Face Inferencing
Have you mastered parallel inferencing? SketchUp have added a ‘Perpendicular to Face’ inference. Hover a face; SketchUp will helpfully snap to its perpendicular.
The Rectangle tools now utilise the arrow-key axis-locking (just like Circle and Polygon tools).
In SketchUp 2017, colour customisation is being introduced that display SketchUp’s axes and inferencing. People with any degree of colour blindness will tweak these important colour schemes to make SketchUp and LayOut work just right.
Great documents often feature important information, so SketchU now included Tables, a great way to manage spreadsheets in LayOut. Create a Table from scratch, or import a .CSV or Excel file. Tables behave just like other spreadsheets: edit text, style cells, modify columns and rows. LayOut references your original spreadsheet, so updating every Table in your document is as simple as… click!
