Windows 2000

After what must be the longest run up to a product release in history, Microsoft finally slipped Windows 2000 out on February 17th of this year with hardly a flourish. In contrast to the glitz and razzmatazz surrounding the Windows 95 launch, you'd almost be forgiven for missing the arrival of this major new operating system altogether. In the first of a series of articles,we introduce Windows 2000 and look at some of the potential issues facing IT managers when considering upgrades.

The Publishing of Information

At various stages of the project,we need to publish the information, drawings and data to the rest of the project teams, client and supply chain.Rather than this taking place at fixed times within the project, this data should be made available at any time, allowing others within the design teams to access the information they need, when they need it. One of the features of AutoManager WorkFlow is its ability to publish automatically to an Intranet, Extranet or the Internet.

Automating Your Workflow:A review

This article begins by presenting general workflow information common to both CADD and typical business documents and then considers CADD specific workflow later, in more detail.

Document Management for Beginners- Setting Up Your EDMS system

In the last issue we featured an in-depth article on ‘Document Management for Beginners’, as a follow-on to this, Rob Lion gives his conclusions and recommendations in setting up an EDMS (Electronic Document Management System). documents.

Seven Barriers to Successful Document Management

Technology can do wonders, but its successful implementation always hinges on the abilities and attitudes of people.Nowhere is this fact more evident than when implementing a document management system. The climate and environment of an organisation has a lot do with how well a document management system will perform and be embraced by its users.

The role of the WWW for Document Management

The Internet is becoming an integral part of a corporate infrastructure. Although much of the Internet is being used for corporate communication with customers, it is also being used to distribute published information within corporations. Termed Intranet, this internal use is essentially a private network created behind a firewall for corporate use. A firewall is an electronic security barrier that protects the internal network and the Internet servers from unauthorised access.

AutoManager Workflow Overview

Increasingly, organisations are looking for ways to increase workgroup productivity through reusing existing information and streamlining the workflow process. Whether to increase productivity, save money or meet ISO 9000 and government requirements, the need for a flexible and effective document management solution is a must.
