Concrete Modelling

Concrete modelling has been enhanced in Revit Structure 2009. Where elements in concrete are joined they are now represented as a single mass in section view. Concrete beams now join correctly and the new automatic join functionality allows the following conditions: - columns to slabs, beams to slabs, columns to walls, beams to walls, and slab edges to slabs. When two or more concrete beams are placed so that their ends join, Revit creates a default join that can be easily edited with minimal steps.

Beam Cutbacks

The new beam cutback feature improves the display of steel beams in coarse level of detail. The new configuration editor allows you to modify the joins using graphical controls at the ends of joined beams. Selecting the control indicates whether the beam is cutback.

Rebar

It is now a lot easier to place individual reinforcement bars into a concrete model. Many standard rebar shapes are available from a new browser. You can select the shape you require and place it within your model and with one mouse click. Rebar shapes dimensions can be edited using the Revit family editor. Additional parameters can be displayed in schedules, allowing automatically created reinforcement by a third party application to be accurately scheduled

Foundation Improvements

You can now create multiple wall foundations and multiple isolated foundations, either by structural columns or grid intersections.

Beam Tags

Tags for structural framing have been improved so when you move a structural framing element, any attached tag to the element is automatically moved to maintain its original position. Specifically, this will allow the placement of a structural beam tag at the end of a beam, which moves and repositions with the beam.

Revision Enhancements

Revisions in Revit Structure 2009 have been improved. Now you can create revisions which are alphabetical, numerical or as a combination of both. Revisions schedules that form part of your drawing sheet can be generated so that they can either build from the bottom-up, not just top-down.

Mirror Project

Revit Structure 2009 now provides the ability to mirror a project. This command will mirror not only the model geometry but the annotation in non-drafting views as well.

View Navigation Tools

Revit Structure 2009 includes a number of major enhancements improving user experience and the navigation of the Revit 3d environment. ViewCube™ which is located in the upper-right corner of the screen helps users switch between different viewpoints without confusion. SteeringWheels™ based on Autodesk’s patent-pending Tracking Menus technology enables users to navigate safely and smoothly around objects and within interior and exterior spaces.

Rendering Enhancements

Revit Structure 2009 now includes Autodesk’s award winning Mental Ra rendering engine. Mental Ray improves the overall quality of the rendering providing a higher quality compared with AccuRender. The Mental Ray rendering engine also improves the lighting effects and provides a far more accurate render appearance for construction materials and finishes. The user interface to the rendering capabilities has been overhauled simplified making the whole user experience making it easy to use and learn.

AutoCAD 2009

As the Autodesk Revit Structure Suite includes full AutoCAD, you get the latest version of AutoCAD 2009 in the box. AutoCAD 2009 boosts efficiency with customizable and extensible user interface enhancements that increase overall drafting productivity by decreasing the number of steps needed to reach a command. Newly designed, innovative features simplify working with layers and help make new users productive as quickly as possible.
