AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 |
AutoCAD Map 3D – the bridge between CAD and GIS.
AutoCAD Map 3D provides access to data previously locked up in the GIS department.
As the desktop-based core of the Autodesk Geospatial platform, Map 3D supplies the best tools available to edit native geospatial data.
The leading engineering platform for creating and managing spatial data, AutoCAD Map 3D software bridges computer-aided design (CAD) and geographic information systems (GIS) by providing direct access to data and enables the use of AutoCAD tools to maintain a broad variety of geospatial information. When combined with Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise software, Map 3D maximizes the value of design and geospatial information with quick and easy publishing to the web or intranet. |

Because AutoCAD Map 3D software is built on AutoCAD technology, organisations can take full advantage of the extensive CAD-trained workforce to manage geospatial data. And by using familiar CAD tools, team members can make the most of their AutoCAD expertise. Map 3D includes powerful tools that make it easier to work with large CAD datasets, with the ability to perform advanced queries on multiple drawings for collating data, and allowing multi-user access and editing capability. Drawing clean-up tools and drawing classification enable you to create more consistent drawings and help to enforce CAD standards. Add intelligence to your drawing by attaching object data to drawing objects, or for a more flexible approach, create connections between the drawing and external databases and spreadsheets.
- Import and export a wide variety of CAD and GIS file formats, including the ability to import the latest national mapping standard, OS MasterMap.
- Connect to your organisation’s GIS system (including Oracle Spatial, SQL Server and ArcSDE) using open-source FDO technology, and edit and maintain the data with conventional AutoCAD editing functions.
- Create stunning thematic and presentation maps that help portray your data in a clear and effective way.

Data Conversion and Management
Drawing data can be migrated to Oracle, ArcSDE and SDF formats, and vice versa. AutoCAD drawing layers, feature classes, object data or linked templates can be used to map FDO feature classes. The data can be migrated in stages, as the tool allows you to append to existing data stores. You can use the display manager to stylise these features easily, and even move the data to other stores such as SQL Server or MySQL. |

 |
Expression Builder
The new expression builder interface in AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 makes it easy to create advanced expressions that combine maths or text string functions with data attributes, to query and filter data and create map annotation. Expressions can be saved and re-used on other datasets.
|
FDO Feature Editing
Editing FDO connected data is now aligned with AutoCAD editing. You can use standard commands such as join, break, trim, extend, offset, rotate and pedit. There is no need to check objects out of the data store; the implicit check-out feature takes care of that for you. And new user-defined split and merge rules makes light work of updating data attributes automatically. For example, length and area attributes can be automatically updated using proportions or summation. Advanced rules can be created to include calculations or string functions using attribute fields. |

Publish to MapGuide
Your maps produced using AutoCAD Map 3D 2009 are directly compatible with Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise because of shared common data access technology (FDO). Any stylisation you apply to your maps can be made instantly available to web users online when published to MapGuide Enterprise, regardless of whether the data consists of desktop files or a connected data source such as Oracle. |
