Excitech Web Seminars
Excitech
web seminars, or webinars,
a new way for you
get the latest information on technology for design
- in a more convenient way.
|
| Excitech now offer web based seminars and demonstrations
as a more convenient way for you to see the latest
software applications, new technologies and processes.
While not replacing
our normal seminars, demonstrations or indeed training
courses they do offer a very convenient way to learn
more or determine whether a further investment in time – and
maybe travel is justified.

|
A web seminar or demonstration
means you can sit at a PC in your office or even
home to participate. You may be shown a presentation
(from, for example, PowerPoint) or video, or a live
demonstration of a software application. You will
hear the commentary from the presenter either through
your PC’s sound system or over the telephone
and you can interact by typing questions, participating
in polls and in some cases speaking to the presenter.
Afterwards,
depending on the event, you may be able to play back
the presentation to review or share with colleagues.
What you need
Participation is easy... |
Your
PC |
You need a PC with
a connection to the Internet.
Your PC should have a colour graphics display
with a screen resolution of at least 1024 x
768.
|
Your
Internet Connection |
You may be connected
directly to the internet or via your company
LAN. Because of the protocols used you should
not need any changes to corporate firewalls,
routers etc.
You should ensure that your internet connection
is of a high speed; an absolute minimum download
speed of 128Kbps. You can test this by visiting
various web sites with such facilities.
Note that your internet speed will vary
from time to time as you are sharing access
with many others in your company and beyond.
|
Your
Software |
You need a Windows
operating system (98se, ME, XP, NT 4.0, 2000)
and standard browser software such as the following:
- Internet Explorer 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 7.0
- Firefox
- Netscape Navigator 4, 6.2, 7.1
- AOL 8
- Compuserve 7 (2000 & XP only)
- Mozilla 1.2
- Opera 7
You also require Macromedia Flash Player
5 and for some events Flash Player 6.0.65.
Macromedia Flash is now a standard component
installed with Windows, if a newer version
is needed you will be prompted and it can
be downloaded and installed automatically.
|
Audio |
To hear the commentary
your PC should include audio
components with either speakers (if you
wish to share the presentation with colleagues)
or headphones.
